Urgent Vietnam eVisa: 4-Hour Processing Explained (2026)
Urgent Vietnam eVisa: Approved in 4 Working Hours
Short answer: Vietnam’s official eVisa takes about 3 working days, and the government portal offers no way to pay for speed. An urgent eVisa means an agent prepares, submits and follows your application so it clears in 4 to 8 working hours instead. This page explains what that actually buys, what it costs, and when you should not pay for it.
What “urgent” really means
There is no express lane on evisa.gov.vn. Anyone promising you a secret government fast-track is selling you something that does not exist.
What does change the outcome is work done around the application:
- Preparation. A photo in the right 4x6cm ratio, a name entered to match the passport’s machine-readable zone, a border gate that matches your ticket. Most delays are not queues — they are applications sent back.
- Submission timing. Applications submitted inside Vietnamese working hours start moving the same day. Submitted at the wrong hour, the same application waits overnight.
- Follow-up. Someone watching it, and fixing a problem within minutes rather than when you notice it at the airport.
That is the whole of it. We would rather describe it plainly than dress it up.
Processing tiers
- Standard — the official route, about 3 working days
- Express — 2 to 3 working days
- Urgent — 4 to 8 working hours, weekdays
- Emergency — 1 to 2 hours, weekdays. See emergency Vietnam eVisa
- Weekend and holiday — a separate tier, because Vietnamese government offices are closed
Fees for each tier are on our pricing page.
“Working hours” is the phrase to read carefully. It means 7:30 to 17:30 Vietnam time, Monday to Friday. A 4-working-hour tier bought at 4pm Vietnam time does not finish at 8pm; it finishes the following morning.
What it costs, broken into its two parts
Every urgent quote anywhere is made of two separate things, and it is worth seeing them apart:
- The government fee. USD 25 for a single-entry eVisa, USD 50 for multiple entry, both up to 90 days. This is set by the Vietnam Immigration Department, it is identical everywhere, and it is non-refundable even if your application is refused.
- The service fee. What an agent charges for preparation, submission and speed. This is the part that varies between providers, and the part you are actually choosing between.
If a site quotes one number without telling you which part is which, that is worth noticing.
When you should not pay for urgent processing
We will say this plainly even though it costs us work.
If your trip is more than a week away and your documents are in order, apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn and pay USD 25. You do not need us. The standard 3-working-day route will get there comfortably.
Urgent processing earns its fee in a narrower set of cases:
- You fly within 72 hours
- A previous application was refused and you do not know why
- Your passport has an awkward name format that does not map onto the form cleanly
- You are moving a group and cannot risk one person holding up the rest
- The ticket is non-refundable and expensive enough that a photo crop is not a risk worth taking
Timing by where you are
Vietnamese offices run 7:30 to 17:30, GMT+7. Where you are decides what hour you should submit, and this is where most urgent applications lose a day:
- From the United States — Vietnam is 11 to 15 hours ahead. Submit in your evening to land in the Vietnamese morning. Full guide for US citizens
- From Australia — Vietnam is 3 to 4 hours behind Sydney. Submit in the morning; an afternoon submission has already missed the Vietnamese working day. Full guide for Australians
- From India — Vietnam is 1 hour 30 ahead, so working hours are 6:00 am to 4:00 pm IST. Submit before 3:30pm. Full guide for Indian citizens
- From China — Vietnam is 1 hour behind Beijing, giving nearly the whole Chinese working day. Full guide for Chinese passport holders
What we need from you
- Passport valid 6+ months beyond entry, with two blank pages
- A clear scan of the bio page
- A photo, 4x6cm, white background, no glasses, both ears visible
- Entry date, exit date, and the border gate from your ticket
- Your first hotel in Vietnam
Vietnam accepts eVisas at 83 international border gates — airports, land crossings and seaports — since Resolution 389/NQ-CP added 41 gates in December 2025. The gate on your eVisa must match the one you actually use.
Single entry or multiple entry
Single entry is USD 25, multiple entry USD 50, both up to 90 days. If there is any chance of a side trip to Cambodia, Laos or Thailand and a return, take multiple entry. Re-entering on a single-entry eVisa is not possible — you would be reapplying from abroad, mid-trip, which costs far more than the extra USD 25.
The five things that get applications refused
- Photo ratio. 4x6cm is taller than wide. Square crops fail.
- Name mismatch. It must match the passport’s machine-readable zone exactly — middle names included, initials not substituted.
- Border gate mismatch with the ticket.
- Passport expiring inside 6 months of the entry date.
- Entry date set after your arrival. You cannot enter before your eVisa starts; arriving later is fine.
Questions we get most
Can anyone really do it in 4 hours?
On a Vietnamese working day, inside working hours, yes. Outside them, no one can, and a provider promising otherwise is promising something they do not control.
What if it is refused?
The government fee is lost — Vietnam’s rule, not ours. Our refund policy covers our own service fee and is set out on the pricing page.
Can I apply on a weekend?
You can submit any time. Processing is a weekend-tier service because government offices are closed.
Is visa on arrival faster?
No. It still needs an approval letter arranged beforehand, works only at airports, and adds a cash stamping fee on landing.
Can I extend an eVisa inside Vietnam?
Not in the ordinary way. Most people who need longer exit and re-enter on a new eVisa.
Ready to apply
The form takes about 5 minutes. We check it before submission and tell you if anything will cause a problem — including whether urgent processing is worth paying for in your case.
