1. Check Your Visa Type and Requirements

  • Tourist Visa: Valid for up to 3 months, can be extended for an additional 15 or 30 days

  • Business Visa: Valid for up to 1 year, can be extended for another year

  • Other Visas: Student, intern, family visit, etc., can also be extended

2. Prepare Necessary Documents

  • Valid Passport: Must have at least 6 months of validity and at least two blank pages

  • Visa Extension Form (NA5): Complete and submit this form

  • Temporary Residence Paper: Proof of your temporary residence in Vietnam

  • Passport Photos: Recent passport-sized photos

  • Sponsorship (if applicable): For business visas, a sponsorship letter from your company in Vietnam

3. Submit Your Application

  • Visit the Immigration Office: Go to the nearest Vietnamese Immigration Office in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, or Da Nang

  • Submit Documents: Hand in all the required documents and pay the extension fee

4. Wait for Approval

  • Processing Time: It usually takes about 5-8 working days for the approval

  • New Visa Stamp: Once approved, you’ll receive a new visa stamp showing your extended stay

  • Apply Before Expiry: Ensure you apply before your current visa expires to avoid penalties

  • Stay Legal: Overstaying your visa can result in fines and difficulties with future entries
